About us

About us

From a butcher shop in Newmarket to a family farm on Northline Road, the Sedore name has been behind the counter for five generations.

Our story

Family history

“I spoke with my grandfather to get his advice. I believed it was important to keep the Sedore name going and so did he.”

Newmarket

Luke’s great-grandfather launches the family butcher business with a shop in Newmarket, Ontario. His grandfather, Neil Sedore, later takes it over.

The 1970s

Neil and his wife move to Fenelon Falls and bring the business with them. Neil cuts meat for sixty years, most of them at the farm at 438 Northline Road, alongside his three butcher brothers.

Uncle Dave

When Neil “retires”, Luke’s Uncle Dave runs the business for several years at his own farm a few miles down the road.

2004

Luke’s father, Matt, becomes a full-time beef farmer. The cattle are part of the family business too.

September 2022

Luke’s cousin Kevin calls to ask if he’ll take over. At 24, Luke leaves his job at the golf course, his uncle shows him the ropes, and Sedore Meats comes home to Northline Road.

We raise our own cattle

Raising our own cattle lets us watch over and care for each animal individually. We raise quality beef breeds for a well-finished carcass and beautiful marbling, and you’re welcome to see the cattle for yourself when you visit the farm shop.

“People want to know where it’s coming from, who’s cutting.”
